Ruuttub is a combination of Japanese ofuro and a regular wooden hot tub, which is put into a stunning design. Ruuttub can be placed directly on grass or on a previously built surface that is on a level.
Ruuttub is ready made by experienced coopers. The tub is packed on a pallet and will be delivered to your doorstep. Now it needs to be taken to a suitable location. It will take another 15 minutes to set it up. We keep good stock of Ruuttubs. UK deliveries can be done in maximum 10 days. |

A Japanese wood burning heater Chofu is making the tub water warm. It takes about three hours to heat up the tub from 6°C to 38°C. This is a very enjoyable part of the Ruuttubing process. You start up the fire, hear the wood cracking when burning, there is some smoke coming from the chimney. It feels a little bit like camping on a holiday. Relaxing job to do. In every 20-30 minutes some dry firewood should be added. |
Some people use the tub for relaxing after the sauna and in this case 32°C temperature is recommended. For regular usage, 38°C is the most enjoyable. Some extremists use Ruuttub as a sauna in ten minute sessions when water is heated up to 45°C.
Ruuttub is pretty much maintaining itself. Wood is treated with a special mixture of pine tar oil. This protects the wood from dampness and moisture. The legs which it is standing on rise the tub a few centimeters above the ground. This allows air ventilation below the tub. Ventilated wood does not become decayed. |
